Specialising in captive bred Arachnids from around the world since 1986

News updates - November 27th, 2021:

Calgary and Edmonton group shipments headed out next Sunday, December 5th! Group shipments are an excellent way to get the spped, safety, comfort and reliability of air cargo for less than the cost of mail and all lists have been updated! A new shipment is in the works, so anyone seeking species not listed, please let us know and we will see what we can do =->

The Tarantulas and Other Spiders list has seen a few minor updates, mostly the addition of Malaysian Giant Orange Huntsman Spiders (Heteropoda davidbowiei), a few sexed specimens, several size updates and the removal of a few sold out items as well as the addition of a few oddballs. Regal jumping spiders (Phidippus regius) are growing rapidly and we now have two sizes available! These are one of the largest and most impressive jumping spider species in the world and are great fun to watch as they are not only diurnal, but quite active! Bold and beautiful with their great big eyes, these true spiders are dimorphic, with the females being a beige-rust brown with darker markings and violet chelicerae, while the males are boldly marked in black and white with metallic teal to green chelicerae! These are currently feeding on wingless fruit flies and pinhead crickets and are very popular - so don't miss out! =-> The Guyana Pink Toes (Avicularia avicularia) are really quite exceptionally coloured! These may very well be what the the hobby has been selling as "Avicularia sp. Blue, but with the Genus being a taxonomic nightmare, we really have no way to confirm this! Either way, these are more of a blue/purple than the classic blue/green of typical Guyana pink toes and we are offering a really good group price (5/200$) in the hopes that some folks will consider breeding these and keeping them going in the hobby! We are nearly sold out of Guyana Skeletons (Ephebopus murinus), but there are still a fair number of Emerald Skeletons (Ephebopus uatuman) left. Burgundy Goliaths (Theraphosa stirmi) also look great and we have sexed a few of these already for those seeking males and females for breeding projects or even just as display specimens. We have already started sexing out some Brazilian Blacks (Grammostola pulchra), Cuban Purple Birdeaters (Phormictopus sp. "Blue"), Gooty Sapphire Oranmentals Poecilotheria metallica and Indian Ornamentals (Poecilotheria regalis), so anyone wishing to acquire females of any of these species, please let us know and we will update you as they come available. Check out the new list for all the latest updates and be sure to keep an eye out for 3-pack or 5-pack discounts for those looking to raise their own males and/or females =->

CB Asian Forest Scorpions (Heterometrus silenus) are now available and these make great starter scorpions. Easy to raise and can be kept in groups, they are also well priced at 20$ each! West African Ground Scorpions (Hottentotta hottentotta) have just arrived and there are still a few CB Dictator Scorpions (Pandinus dictator) in stock as well as adult Asian Forest Scorpions (Hetermetrus silenus). Please be aware that the recent "discovery" that these were actually Heterometrus petersi has been found to be inaccurate and the species name has been fixed accordingly.

Minor updates to the Other Invertebrates list as a few species have since sold out and CB Malaysian Cherry Red Centipedes have arrived!

A few new reptiles have arrived as well, including Cat Eyed Geckoes (Aeluroscalabotes felinus), Flying Geckoes (Ptychozoon kuhli) and Malaysian Bent Toe Geckoes (Crytodactylus elok)!

New to the Miscellaneous Goods section are new spiderling enlcosures! These are available in 2 sizes (7 oz and 24 oz) and come complete with substrate!

As everyone is surely aware, the COVID-19 pandemic has created a lot of chaos in the last 21 months and has impacted the majority of businesses globally. While it has had little direct impact on operations here at Arachnophiliacs, it has had some impact on our shipping corridors. For air cargo customers, this simply means less frequent flights and in some cases, shorter warehouse hours for pickups, though there have been no changes in quality or speed of service. More than ever, we recommend air cargo for anyone that has the option to utilise this fantastic service. Canada Post and all courier companies have made changes to their service standards and processes, and are no longer accepting signatures, so we are advising customers to consider FlexDelivery to their local post office instead of door service as this eliminates the risk of stolen parcels or boxes being left outside until being noticed. Please be aware that the Vancouver Reptile Expo is now on track and will be held at the East Delta Hall on September 11th and 12th. We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding while going through these turbulent times and in the meantime, please stay healthy and safe and remember to use extra caution when in proximity to seniors as they are the most vulnerable to this illness!

We have finally updated some of the scientific names, including the revision that transferred several species of Brachypelma to the new Genus Tliltocatl. If you are having trouble finding a particular species, try using your browser's find feature (F3, Control-F or Apple-F) and searching for the species name alone (for example, F3, followed by "verdezi").

Give the gift of spiders anytime! We now offer gift cards! These can be purchased online with your credit card and gifted via email, printed out and mailed to your Arachnid-loving friends and relatives or even retained for your own use!.

We are always on the lookout for more Chelonian species! If you are a turtle or tortoise breeder, please contact us!

Want to get sneak peeks, special offers and who knows what else? Join our mailing list by emailing us with "mealworm" as the subject! I do apologise for the latency of this mailing list, but it is one of the last tasks to get done and the care of the animals (and our customers!) always comes first!! The bright side? The longer it takes to get the mailer out, the more likely a surprise special will be in it ;)
